Significance Of Indian Monuments

Khajuraho Temples
Khajuraho Temples are one of the best temples among the most beautiful medieval monuments in the country. These temples were built by the Chandella ruler. It was the golden period of Chandella rulers. It is presumed that it was every Chandella ruler has built at least one temple in his lifetime. So all Khajuraho Temples are not constructed by any single Chandella ruler but beautiful temple building was a tradition of Chandella rulers and followed by almost all rulers of Chandella dynasty.
Ajanta Caves
The world famous Ajanta Caves including the unfinished ones are thirty in number, of which five (9, 10, 19, 26 and 29) are chaitya-grihas and the rest are viharas (monasteries). After centuries of oblivion, these caves were discovered in AD 1819. They fall into two distinct phases with a break of nearly four centuries between them. All the caves of the earlier phase date between second century BC-AD. The caves of the second phase were excavated during the supremacy of the Vakatakas and Guptas.
Qutub Minar
Qutub Minar is the highest stone tower in India. The construction of the Qutub Minar was started by Qutub-ud-Din Aibak in 1199 and it was finished by his successor and son-in-law, Iltutmish. The Qutub Minar was named after the Sufi saint, Khwaja Qutubuddin Bakhtiyar Kaki.

Gateway of India is a great historical monument built during the British rule in the country.
