Best Sightseeing California

California is rich with a diverse population, beautiful landscapes, unlimited shopping and dining opportunities, an abundance of leisure time activities and weather to fit every season. What better way to see it all than aboard Amtrak California! Whether you're visiting for the first time, or this is your turf, traveling on Amtrak California is the way to get there.

When we set out to create a list of top Sightseeing California attractions, we didn't know it would be so hard. First, we had to define an attraction which for our purposes is a single place and not a city, town or national park. We decided to limit these top California tourist attractions to the short list of things that everyone should think about doing.                                                                  

Lake Tahoe

Lake Tahoe is one of the largest lakes in the world. The lake is located along the border between Sightseeing California and Nevada. Surrounded by majestic mountains, this popular tourist attraction offers exciting events and activities all year around. In the winter, the main activities are snow skiing, snowmobile riding, snow-tubing and snowshoeing at one of the ski resorts. From spring to fall, visitors can enjoy a host of water sports and other activities like sailing, kayaking, jet skiing, paddle boating and swimming.

Golden Gate Bridge

The Golden Gate Bridge is one of the most visited tourist attractions in California and the US. Spanning over the San Francisco Bay for more than a mile, this famous landmark is one of the world’s most photographed bridges. The famous red-orange color of the bridge was specifically chosen to make the bridge more easily visible through the thick fog that frequently shrouds the bridge.

Disneyland

Disneyland in Anaheim is California's premier family destination and has been for decades. This massive amusement park is home to all kinds of rides, games, shows, and entertainment, complete with restaurants and hotels.

Yosemite National Park

Yosemite National Park in Northern California is one of the United States' most scenic and famous national parks. The mountains, valleys, rivers and huge waterfalls have drawn visitors and artists here throughout the decades. Ansel Adams photographs of the park have famously captured some of the beauty and awe that has inspired visitors and photographers over the years.

Big Sur

This beautiful stretch of coastline and forest offers a chance for visitors to get back to nature. Camping and hiking are two of the biggest activities in this area. At Garrapata State Park is a beautiful stretch of beach, and Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park is a lovely place for hiking.
