Liberation Tower - Tourist Attraction Of Kuwait

The Liberation Tower is the one of the most striking tourist attractions for visitors to the Kuwait city. The towers were so named to mark the liberation of Kuwait from Iraqi invasion. Kuruvilla Varghese and Haider Mirza Abdul were two of the most prominent engineers associated with the projects who also penned down a book on the same. The construction was completed in 1996, which took about 5 years and 7 months.

The Kuwait Liberation Tower stands at a staggering height of 372 meters or 1,220 feet above the ground level. The elevators that facilitate movement in the towers move at a speed of 6.4m/s The tower is so designed that in case of a strong wind, the tip is allowed to sway a lateral distance of 5meters. The restaurant in the tower is one of the most luxurious ones in the city of Kuwait. A revolving viewing center offers the opportunity of getting the best view of the kuwait culture of city.

As many people know, the Liberation Tower is the tallest building in the whole of Kuwait, and you will be pleased to learn the time and effort, which were put in its creation. Its construction alone took three years. At first, the structure was named the Kuwait Telecommunication Tower, primarily because of the businesses and activities that regularly happen within its walls. The project was approved and commenced way back in 1990, even before the Iraqi patriots invaded the city. Of course, the erecting was temporarily stopped during the seventh-month occupation of Iraq. Developments resumed after the war ended in 1991.

The Kuwait Telecommunication Tower, this famous landmark was later renamed to the Liberation Tower in 1993. It serves as a memorial to remind the citizens of their valiant battle for freedom at the face of their enemies. It also acts as an encouragement to the younger generation to never give up in fighting for their country. As with so many tourist attractions, this structure caught the attention of the Amir, the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and it was opened to the public on March 10, 1996. It is taller than Paris’ Eiffel Tower with its height of 372 meters. Upon closer inspection of its exterior, you will see that it is mostly made up of ceramic tiles.

The Liberation Tower has been constructed using ceramic tiles from the base all the way up to the highest level which is around 1,010 feet (308m) above the ground. The Tower is 130 feet (40m) taller than the Eiffel Tower in Paris. The Liberation Tower actually serves as a telecommunications tower, and it also features a restaurant in addition to office space. The three distinct sections are a public telecommunications area, a restaurant and revolving observation level.

Visitors can travel to the different floors of the towers in one of eighteen different elevators that are on offer. These elevators are considered to be some of the fastest in the world, if not the fastest.
